Basic rule of thumb

Horsepower X .746 = Kilowatts

1 Kilowatt for 1 hour = 1 kWh (Kilowatthour)

 

As a result the 2 factors affecting the amount of the bill are motor size (HP) and Hours of operation

The chart below shows examples of the kWh usage based on different HP and hours of operation:

A 30 day month = 720 hours of operating time (24 hours X 3O days)
Operating 75% of the time would be 540 hours
Operating 50% of the time would be 360 hours
Operating 25% of the time would be 180 hours

The High Plains Power irrigation rate is $0.07733 per kWh for usage and annual HP charge of $27.15/HP billed at $6.79/HP in the months of May - August.
